In May 2025, the Volkswagen brand reached an important milestone—the 50th anniversary of the Polo. Since its debut in 1975, this classic product, with six generations of renewal and global sales of more than 20 million units, has become a benchmark in the entry-level segment and a byword for the "hot hatch" of the internal combustion era.
For decades, the Volkswagen brand has produced outstanding models in the premium compact segment, including the Polo and the Beetle, and with core strengths such as efficiency, affordability, innovation and practicality, it has made technological progress accessible to more people. Now, amid the wave of electrification, the ID.3 has strongly taken up the baton, securing a place in the pure electric compact car segment and becoming what consumers call the "electric hot hatch."

In 2021, SAIC Volkswagen exclusively introduced the ID.3 for domestic production, making it an important move in the Volkswagen brand's "oil and electric advancing together" strategy in the Chinese market and a vanguard for electrification, intelligence and youthfulness.
Under the name "electric hot hatch," the ID.3 embodies the product traits of "easy to drive, good-looking and highly reliable." Its front MacPherson struts + rear multi-link independent suspension, rear-mounted rear-wheel drive and solid German chassis tuning deliver a driving experience comparable to that of a fuel vehicle; 3s start (0-50km/h), ready to go at any time; a 4.7m ultra-small turning radius, with precise steering performance surpassing that of the same class. It can be said that the Volkswagen brand's dynamic hatchback driving DNA is perfectly inherited by the ID.3.

At the same time, intelligent technology is also comprehensive, with configurations such as the L2-level driver assistance system, AR HUD intelligent guidance and remote parking enhancing travel convenience. In terms of quality, the ID.3 further inherits the reliability of German manufacturing, with a high-strength body, 12-year body anti-corrosion protection and 338 brand-standard battery safety verifications, making it a tough guardian of travel safety.

With outstanding product strength, the ID.3 has also achieved both critical acclaim and strong sales in China's pure electric market. Over the past year, the ID.3 has frequently won major honors in ratings by various "national-level" institutions and media, and the reputation of the "all-around electric honor student" has entered a new stage of "good quality, good satisfaction, good value retention." In March this year, based on continuous evolution and upgrading according to user voices, SAIC Volkswagen launched the refreshed ID.3 2025 Smart Edition, with upgrades to both exterior and interior, equivalent to giving users a complimentary "responsive upgrade package" worth 6,000 yuan.

At the recently concluded Shanghai Auto Show, SAIC Volkswagen continued to listen to users' calls for personalization, and the ID.3 GTX kit version made its debut, becoming the focus of the entire show. The new car adopts正统 red paint, a flying-wing front intake grille and a sporty diamond-mesh rear bumper, paying tribute with iconic GT design elements to the GT culture brought by classic models such as the Polo. It is reported that the ID. 3 GTX kit version will officially go on sale in June, so stay tuned!
