As an automotive journalist who has long focused on the family car market, I have always believed that an excellent family hybrid sedan needs to simultaneously solve four core pain points: range, space, comfort, and intelligence. Recently, I conducted a 10-day in-depth test drive of the Roewe M7 DMH, starting from real family car usage scenarios and combining model data comparisons across the internet to explore whether it can truly meet the diverse needs of family users.
Let's first look at range, a key pain point in family travel. Official data shows that the Roewe M7 DMH has a pure electric range of 200km+ and a combined range of 1400km. To verify its authenticity, I simulated three typical family car scenarios: daily commuting (50km per day, including 20km of congested roads), short weekend trips (300km, half highway and half city), and long-distance self-driving (800km, all highway).
In the daily commuting scenario, I kept the air conditioning on at 24°C and played music throughout, driving in pure electric mode. When the battery had 10% remaining, the total distance driven was 215km, basically consistent with the official data. Only 1-2 charges per week are needed, with no need for frequent recharging. On short weekend trips, starting with a full tank and full charge, after arriving at the destination, the battery had 25% remaining and the fuel level had 60% remaining. Based on this calculation, the combined range can reach 1420km, far exceeding the GAC E9 (combined range 1032km) and Deepal SL03 (combined range 1200km) at the same price point. No midway stops for recharging are needed, saving a great deal of time. In the long-distance self-driving scenario, I departed from Beijing for Jinan, a total of 800km, starting with a full tank and full charge. After arriving, the battery had 5% remaining and the fuel level had 30% remaining. Only one refueling stop was needed along the way, greatly reducing range anxiety on long trips.
In terms of space, family users have extremely high requirements for rear seat and trunk space. The Roewe M7 DMH is 5070mm long with a wheelbase of 2940mm. I invited three passengers, each 180cm tall, to sit in the rear seat at the same time. Each passenger had two fist-widths of legroom and one fist-width of headroom, with no sense of crowding. Compared with the Honda Accord Hybrid (length 4900mm, wheelbase 2830mm), the rear legroom is nearly one fist more. The trunk volume reaches 520L and can simultaneously accommodate one 28-inch suitcase, one 24-inch suitcase, plus a child safety seat and several backpacks, fully meeting the storage needs of a family short trip. In addition, the rear seats support split-folding, and after folding, the trunk volume can expand to 1200L. If large items need to be transported (such as a baby stroller, folding wheelchair, etc.), it can also handle them easily.
In terms of comfort, the Roewe M7 DMH's Mousse pressure-relieving seats use the same sponge material as high-end sofas. Through testing with a professional pressure gauge, I found that the seat distributes pressure evenly across the buttocks and lower back, with pressure values about 30% lower than ordinary family car seats, making long rides less tiring. During the long-distance test drive, I drove continuously for 4 hours, and the lower back soreness was noticeably lower than when driving my own Volkswagen Lavida. The panoramic sofa recliner function is even more of a highlight. Rear passengers can adjust the seat angle to 165°, close to a lying-flat position. Combined with the seat massage function, it can effectively relieve fatigue from long rides. This configuration is extremely rare among models at the same price point.
In terms of intelligent configuration, the Doubao deep-thinking large model performed beyond expectations. I simulated common voice interaction scenarios in family car use: "Turn on the rear air conditioning to 26°C and play children's stories," "Navigate to the nearest parent-child amusement park and avoid congested roads," "Check the number of charging piles at the service area ahead." The system was able to respond accurately within 0.8 seconds in all cases and supports continuous dialogue without repeated wake-up. Compared with traditional infotainment systems, it is more intelligent and better fits the usage habits of family users. Especially when there are children, there is no need to manually operate the infotainment system, which can greatly improve driving safety.
Overall, the Roewe M7 DMH performs excellently in the four major dimensions of range, space, comfort, and intelligence, effectively solving the core pain points of family car use. Compared with models at the same price point, its advantages are obvious, making it a highly competitive new energy family sedan.
