Recently, IM Motors announced that the IM LS9 Hyper has achieved three major industry breakthroughs—becoming the industry's first mass-produced SUV with four-wheel full steer-by-wire; and has received authoritative certification from CATARC, becoming the industry's first mass-produced full steer-by-wire model to pass the reliability challenge; it is also equipped with SAIC's first mass-produced tri-motor vector four-wheel-drive system, achieving the "best-driving 9-series flagship" through hardcore technological accumulation, and leading the industry into the inaugural year of steer-by-wire technology.
As the lead drafting unit for the new national standard for steer-by-wire (GB17675-2025), SAIC Motor has long been deeply engaged in steer-by-wire technology research and development. As the culmination of SAIC's pinnacle technology, the IM LS9 Hyper is not only the first mass-production implementation to fully comply with all requirements of the new national standard, but also marks that steer-by-wire has entered a new stage of large-scale mass production.
The full steer-by-wire system equipped on the IM LS9 Hyper has successfully passed CATARC's multi-scenario reliability testing. Actual testing shows that the vehicle, when simulating a system failure at a high speed of 160 km/h, can still remain stable and controllable; after enduring an extreme temperature difference challenge of over 70°C, steering performance shows no degradation, and its ultimate reliability completely eliminates users' concerns about using new technology. As the best motion control technology foundation for advanced intelligent driving, the mass production of steer-by-wire chassis will accelerate the implementation and application of L3 and L4 autonomous driving.
In addition, the IM LS9 Hyper will also be equipped with SAIC's first mass-produced tri-motor vector four-wheel-drive system, forming a deeply synergistic advantage with the steer-by-wire system, pushing the "best-driving 9-series flagship" to the peak of performance and completely revolutionizing the driving experience.
