On March 7, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile (DPCA) and the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone signed an investment cooperation agreement for a new energy vehicle production base project.
Zhang Zutong, member of the Standing Committee of the Dongfeng Motor Party Committee, vice president of Dongfeng Motor, and chairman of DPCA; Liu Ziqing, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and secretary of the Working Committee of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone; Tang Chao, deputy secretary of the Working Committee and director of the Management Committee; and Lyu Haitao, deputy general manager of the Strategic Planning Department of Dongfeng Motor and vice chairman of DPCA, witnessed the signing and held discussions and exchanges. Zhao Yongqiang, deputy secretary of the Working Committee, and Song Hanming, secretary of the Party Committee and general manager of DPCA, signed the agreement.
Zhang Zutong said that DPCA is rooted in the fertile industrial soil of China's Automobile Valley, and in the second half of the automobile "intelligentization" era, it will continue to work hand in hand with the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, give play to its own advantages, increase investment and innovation in the field of new energy vehicles, promote DPCA's accelerated advancement and renewed development in the new energy field, and contribute to the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone's efforts to build the Automobile Valley Industrial Innovation Corridor.
Liu Ziqing said that the landing of this new energy vehicle project is not only an important step for DPCA in the new energy field, but also a key leap for the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone's new energy vehicle industry toward high-quality development.
The project signed this time is the first project of DPCA's integration into Dongfeng's manufacturing coordination, and is also an important part of DPCA's strategy implementation, including the model research and development, production line construction, and market promotion of Dongfeng Nammi. The project is jointly built by DPCA and Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle, and will fully leverage the manufacturing system advantages of Stellantis's global benchmark factory, combine them with Dongfeng Group's technical accumulation in the new energy field, and accelerate the intelligent and electrified transformation and upgrading of DPCA's factory. The project is expected to go into production in the first half of this year. After production begins, it will not only greatly improve the production line and capacity utilization rate of DPCA's Wuhan factory, but also inject new momentum into Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle's ability to navigate the new energy track and achieve high-quality development.
In recent years, DPCA has fully utilized and coordinated the high-quality resources of both shareholders, taken "Made by DPCA, Sold Globally" as the direction of strategic transformation, deepened its presence in the domestic market, accelerated overseas expansion, built a new pattern of domestic and international dual circulation, and created a new DPCA. This year, it will launch its all-new independent new energy brand "HEDMOS".
The first new model will start pre-sales in April and be launched for delivery in May.
