After a century of heritage, when a car brand begins a new century, how will it define its new products?

Is it by insisting on original technology development?

Is it by integrating the brand’s traditional DNA and consumers’ preferences into new products?

Or is it by embracing intelligence?

The MG brand chose to go ALL in on new energy, and integrated all of the above possibilities into its new products, and the all-new MG4 is the first work of this magnificent transformation.

The body dimensions of the all-new MG4 are 4395×1842×1551mm, with the longest wheelbase in its class at 2750mm. The rear floor is flat, and headroom, legroom, and knee room are all significantly ahead of the Dolphin model. The rear seatback angle is 27 degrees, comparable to the Passat. The whole vehicle has as many as 30 storage spaces, and the trunk is the only 3-layer three-dimensional design in its class, capable of holding both daily life and poetry and distant places. Here I especially remind everyone that you must remember clearly where you hide things. If someone else finds them, it will be hard to explain.

In terms of comfort, these are absolutely class-leading configurations. The all-new MG4 uses large-area soft wrapping with baby-grade skin-friendly leather, baby-grade skin-friendly leather that complies with EU REACH regulations. The front windshield uses double-layer silver-coated sun protection glass + front side window UV-IR coated sun protection glass + panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade. The front windshield has a UV blocking rate of 99.9%, and the side windows have a UV blocking rate of 99.9%. This level of sun protection makes Tesla owners break down and Dolphin owners shed tears. It is the only model in its class with rear privacy glass like that of executive sedans, with a visible light blocking rate of 78% (ordinary green glass on the market is 25.9%), protecting the visual health of children sitting in the second row. Dual-layer flow air conditioning design + suction-type seat ventilation, the only steering wheel heating in its class, which can be preheated in advance through the mobile APP, working together with seat heating and air conditioning heating to relieve cold hands and feet in winter.

The all-new MG4 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip commonly used in 200,000-yuan-class models, paired with OPPO smart travel phone-car connectivity, creating a leading same-class in-car integration experience. It is also compatible with the widest range of mobile phone brands, supporting mainstream mobile operating systems such as Huawei, Apple, and Android. The car system is as easy to use as a phone. You do not need to look at your phone after getting in the car, and operation is voice-only without hands. Zero learning cost, simple and easy to use, handling all daily travel needs, with almost seamless connection between travel and life. In contrast, other mainstream 100,000-yuan-class models generally use mid-range chips. For example, the BYD Dolphin uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chip, and the Geely Xingyuan uses the ECARX E02 chip. Due to limited computing power, lag and interaction delays often occur when performing multiple tasks. This also leads to limited compatibility, especially difficulties in connecting Apple iOS/HarmonyOS. For example, the Dolphin D-link is only deeply adapted to Android, while the Geely Xingyuan Flyme auto relies on the Meizu ecosystem. The vertical car-making model is only compatible with its own ecosystem. When a family uses a car, surely they should not have to change their family members’ phone usage habits just to adapt to the car system, right?

As one of the core technologies of new energy vehicles, thermal management determines a vehicle’s performance, safety, and range capability in extreme environments. A good thermal management system requires passenger comfort, battery stability, and efficient electric drive. MG concentrated all its technical strength to tackle the problem and finally broke Tesla’s patent monopoly in thermal management technology. It pioneered the industry’s aluminum rare-earth alloy material, which can perfectly balance the thermal management needs of different modules on the vehicle and achieve the “impossible triangle” of comfortable, stable, and efficient thermal management. The related results have been applied for 3 national patents. With this technology, the all-new MG4 achieves four class-leading advantages: the lowest energy consumption per 100 kilometers in its class at 10.4kWh; the longest range in its class, with CLTC comprehensive range of 530km, enough for a week on one charge; the best low-temperature (-7°C) range achievement rate in its class at 75% under warmed-up conditions, 20% higher than the industry average; and the fastest charging speed in its class, from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes, 5 minutes faster than the Dolphin.

No matter how excellent a model is, without safety as escort, everything is empty talk. Current mainstream 100,000-yuan-class pure electric hatchbacks all use CTP body structures. Compared with CTB body structures, they have problems such as weaker body torsional rigidity and lower space utilization. The BYD Dolphin has a body torsional rigidity of 20400N·m/deg, the Geely Xingyuan 23000N·m/deg, and the AionUT 21000N·m/deg. The all-new MG4, however, is the only model in its class to adopt CTB battery-body integration technology, giving the vehicle greater interior space utilization and higher safety assurance. The whole vehicle’s body torsional rigidity is 31000N·m/deg, more than 50% ahead of competitors and even ahead of the BMW X7. It makes “high-end technology” no longer exclusive to “high-end models” and reconstructs the 100,000-yuan-class safety standard.

It further adopts a new-generation “zero spontaneous combustion” battery, having undergone multiple tests in various daily and extreme environments, including but not limited to collision extrusion, needle puncture, charging in rain, wading, fire, short circuit, immersion, drop, dust, and salt spray. It meets IP67+IP69K, and its high-voltage protection exceeds national standards + European ENCAP standards. There is also MG’s Super Safety Core promise: lifetime warranty for the three electric systems, zero-combustion assurance, and worry-free replacement. All of the above is the true strength of 0 spontaneous combustion witnessed by more than 400,000 owners worldwide.

In addition, the all-new MG4 integrates 14 active safety configurations (including rear automatic emergency braking, door-opening collision warning, etc.); it is also equipped with an AI rearview mirror blind-spot compensation system to help solve visibility problems in rain or at night, bringing users steady peace of mind.

As an automotive brand with a century-long history, MG’s first century was in the era of internal combustion engines, during which it set 43 world speed records and created a world record of 410.5km/h, bringing ultimate driving experience to users pursuing speed and passion. Sportiness and driving fun also became the brand imprint inherited by MG for a hundred years.

Entering its new century, facing consumers’ new demands for intelligent mobility, 101-year-old MG, on the basis of sporty driving fun, integrates “intelligent fun” into its brand DNA. Around the brand proposition of “young, stylish, intelligent fun,” it will create intelligent mobility experiences with personality and fun for consumers in China and around the world.

As MG brand’s first strategic model after going all in on new energy, the all-new MG4, with its class-leading intelligent and convenient OPPO smart travel phone-car connectivity, larger body dimensions and in-car seating and storage space performance, longer range, stronger power, and rich thoughtful configurations, surpasses the Dolphin in intelligent cabin, space, range, power, and configuration, and may rewrite the landscape of the hatchback pure electric market.
