If you are considering buying a mid-to-large luxury sedan, then this news may affect your decision—the all-new ninth-generation Audi A6L has already appeared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology declaration catalog and is expected to officially go on sale in 2026!

A more aggressive exterior, real exhaust tips return

The new-generation A6L continues the design language of the overseas version, but is noticeably more sporty. The front face still features a large hexagonal intake grille, with honeycomb detailing inside, paired with slim LED headlight clusters and exaggerated air guide channels on both sides, giving it much stronger visual impact than the current model.

Most notably, laser radar modules are actually hidden within the air intakes on both sides of the grille, and there are also side-mounted cameras at the front fenders. This indicates that the new-generation A6L is very likely to be equipped with Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving system, and its level of intelligence is expected to improve significantly.

The changes at the rear are also obvious: below the slim full-width taillight strip, black air guide channel trim has been added, creating the visual effect of a split lighting setup. More importantly—the real exhaust pipes are back! No longer the hidden design of the current model, but rather dual rectangular exhaust outlets on both sides, instantly maximizing the sporty feel.

Dimensions lengthened again, wheelbase exceeds 3 meters

When Chinese people buy cars, space is always the bottom line. The new-generation A6L continues its "L" transformation in dimensions, with length, width, and height of 5142/1874 (1887)/1450 (1464) mm respectively, and a wheelbase reaching 3066 mm.

Compared with the current model, the body length has increased by 92 mm, the wheelbase has increased by 42 mm, but the vehicle height has decreased by 11 mm. This means the longitudinal and lateral space inside the cabin will be more spacious, while the body stance will also be lower and more sporty, balancing presence and dynamism.

Triple-screen interior, technology feel maxed out

Sitting inside the car, what greets you is Audi's latest digital cockpit. Referring to the overseas version, the new-generation A6L will adopt an integrated curved OLED central control display, tilted toward the driver's side for more convenient operation.

In addition, the new car will also offer a front passenger entertainment screen and HUD head-up display, enabling multi-screen interaction. Such a configuration belongs to the top tier in the current luxury car market, with a technological atmosphere directly comparable to electric vehicles.

Three powertrain options, the 3.0T is impressive

The powertrain system is the highlight of this generation change. The new-generation A6L will offer three choices:

1. 2.0T low-power version: maximum power 150 kW, suitable for daily commuting, balancing economy

2. 2.0T high-power version: maximum power 200 kW, abundant power, high cost-effectiveness

3. 3.0T V6 version: maximum power 270 kW (367 horsepower), powerful performance, satisfying users with higher power demands

It is worth mentioning that the return of the 3.0T model means that Audi still retains a high-end fuel vehicle option amid the wave of electrification, which is good news for users who love the smoothness and sound of a six-cylinder engine.

Quick comment:

The current A6L is priced in the range of 427,900 to 656,800 yuan, and the new-generation model is expected to remain in this price range. In terms of sales, from January to October 2025, the Audi A6L cumulatively sold 136,333 units, still ahead of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series.

However, in recent years, the rise of domestic mid-to-large sedans such as the BYD Han, NIO ET7, and Zeekr 001 has indeed brought considerable pressure to the traditional "56E." This is also why Audi has gone to such great lengths in this generation change—not only to face old rivals, but also to meet the challenge of new forces.
