On July 10, in the new product public notice of the 409th batch of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's "Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Enterprises and Products Announcement," the all-new BYD Seagull officially completed its filing. The new car has undergone substantial upgrades in exterior, dimensions, configuration, and other aspects.

Dimensions are the most intuitive change in this upgrade. The all-new Seagull measures 4205mm in length, 1810mm in width, and 1570mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2650mm. Compared with the model on sale (3780/1715/1540mm, wheelbase 2500mm), the body has been lengthened by 425mm and the wheelbase extended by 150mm, bringing the overall size very close to the BYD Dolphin. The seating layout has been upgraded from 4 seats to 5 seats.

The exterior adopts a new design language. The front face features sharp creases, paired with slender polygonal headlights, creating a stronger visual impact. The side adopts a hidden BCD-pillar design, with a rising window line that creates a sporty feel, and is equipped with semi-hidden door handles. The rear styling is more minimalist, with the BYD English logo inlaid between two inverted trapezoidal taillights. Curb weight is 1180kg, gross weight is 1555kg, top speed is 150km/h, and tire specification is 205/60R16.

In terms of power, it is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor produced by Zhengzhou BYD, with a peak power of 95kW, and is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery. The range is expected to remain in the 305-405km range.

Intelligent driving is another major highlight. The high-end version can optionally be equipped with LiDAR and is expected to carry the "God's Eye B" (DiPilot 300) advanced intelligent driving system, supporting urban and highway NOA navigation assistance functions. In addition, optional parts such as fender trim, different styles of wheels, and D-pillar decoration are also offered.

Quick comment:

With the body lengthened by 425mm, the wheelbase extended by 150mm, and the change from 4 seats to 5 seats, the all-new Seagull has indeed taken a rather big step in this facelift. Its dimensions are almost catching up with its bigger brother, the Dolphin, and space practicality has improved noticeably. The option of LiDAR being extended down to an entry-level model can be seen as lowering the threshold for advanced intelligent driving another notch. However, the 95kW motor power and 305-405km range are fairly ordinary in today's price segment. It remains to be seen whether the final pricing can stay on the current model's affordable path.
