On August 21, media day at the Chengdu Auto Show, SAIC MG's all-new mid-size new energy sportback MG 07 was officially launched. A total of 7 models were introduced, with an official guide price of 108,900-159,900 yuan and a limited-time subsidized price of 105,900-156,900 yuan. The starting price is a direct drop of 20,000 yuan from the previous pre-sale price of 125,900.


As soon as the price was announced, orders exploded. Official data shows that just 1 minute and 57 seconds after launch, firm orders exceeded 10,000.


Compared with last year's MG4 record of exceeding 10,000 in 39 minutes and 37 seconds, the time was shortened by about 20 times. During the pre-sale stage, cumulative orders over 24 days had already exceeded 59,000 units.


The MG 07 has a length of 4,886 mm and a wheelbase of 2,825 mm, positioned as a mid-size sportback.


What truly set the market ablaze was the equipment list: for 115,900 yuan, buyers can get the Momenta R7 world model + lidar intelligent driving, bringing urban NOA, once available only in the 300,000-yuan class, down to the 110,000-yuan class.


The pure electric 845 lidar version is 146,900 yuan, combining 845 km range, CATL 91 kWh battery, an 800V platform, 5C ultra-fast charging, and 5-second-class acceleration, making it the first mass-produced car to bring 845 km range within 150,000 yuan. In terms of power, it offers both plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions. The plug-in hybrid version has 245 km of pure electric range and 1,745 km of combined range, while the pure electric version has up to 845 km of range.


The entire lineup comes standard with mCDC intelligent electromagnetic suspension, as well as a front passenger queen zero-gravity seat, a 21-speaker audio system, a 30L in-car refrigerator, and other features. Competitors include the Arcfox Alpha S5, BYD Seal 07 DM-i, Lynk & Co 07 EM-P, and others.



Quick comment:

Exceeding 10,000 orders in 1 minute and 57 seconds, this speed is faster than ordering takeout. Lidar + urban NOA for 110,000, and 845 km range + 800V + 5C ultra-fast charging for 140,000, the MG 07's spec sheet is indeed uncommon at the same price point. SAIC has converted the scale advantages of "vehicle-component coordination" and overseas sales into pricing room, and this playbook is indeed hard for rivals to follow.
