Recently, Land Rover released official images of the Defender Dakar D7X-R. The new car is specifically built for the 2026 World Rally-Raid Championship and the Dakar Rally. The vehicle has undergone professional upgrades and modifications and is expected to become the strongest Land Rover Defender in history. It will make its debut at the Saudi Arabia Rally in January 2026.

In terms of exterior, considering the jumps produced when driving over sand dunes, the new car has not added complex equipment on the outside, does not use a large-size bumper, has obvious widening at the wheel arches, is equipped with snorkels on both sides of the A-pillar, has added spotlights on the roof, and comes with exclusive 35-inch off-road tires and high-performance Bilstein shock absorbers, with brake calipers being six-piston at the front and four-piston at the rear. The body of the new car adopts a "desert yellow" paint finish, and the body decals are relatively small in size, so it does not look exaggerated.

In terms of interior, the new car adds a roll cage, adds six-point racing seats and an additional display screen, and the rear seats in the car have been removed, with the freed space used to place three full-size spare tires as well as tool kits, jacks, and other self-rescue equipment.

In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a 4.4T twin-turbocharged V8 engine, matched with an 8AT gearbox. Although this power combination is also used in production cars, the gear ratio has been adjusted and a racing control unit has been introduced, which can adjust torque output so that it can land smoothly after jumping between sand dunes. The fuel tank is larger and can carry more fuel.
Dada Review: The Land Rover Defender is a classic hardcore off-road vehicle. The history of the model can be traced back to the first Land Rover Series designed by the Wilks brothers in 1948, and it was officially named Land Rover "Defender" in 1990. At present, the Land Rover Defender has three different wheelbase series: 90, 110, and 130. Special edition models appear almost every year. The strongest version currently on sale is the Defender OCTA model, which is equipped with a 4.4T V8 mild hybrid power system, with a maximum power of 635 horsepower, peak torque of 750 N·m, a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of only 4 seconds, and a top speed of 248 km/h. The Land Rover Defender Dakar D7X-R version is built for professional competition, with upgrades to power, suspension, and braking systems. Although the engine's power parameters have not been announced, its overall strength is certainly the strongest in history. Vehicles built by automakers for competition will definitely be equipped with the best.
