On January 8, news emerged that Toyota will spin off the Gazoo Racing brand into an independent brand, making it the fifth brand after Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu, and Century. From now on, GR models produced will use only the GR emblem, and the Toyota emblem will not appear on GR models.

The GR GT is positioned as a supercar, featuring the long front hood typical of supercars, with engine heat vents and intake channels designed into the hood, sharp-looking headlight clusters, a full-width taillight at the rear, and a uniquely styled rear spoiler that can provide greater downforce to the rear wheels at high speeds. The GR GT adopts 4.0T V8 hybrid technology, with a combined system output of 641 horsepower.

Dada commentary: Toyota's GR series is a high-performance series that feeds race technology back into production models. It is positioned above Toyota but below Century and Lexus. Among models on sale, the lowest-priced is the GR86, which uses a 2.4L horizontally opposed engine, an engine also installed in the Subaru BRZ. The first model after the GR brand became independent is the GR GT, which no longer uses the Toyota emblem inside or out and is sold through the same channel as the Lexus brand. The new-generation GR Supra will accelerate the development of its own platform and powertrain, equipped with a self-developed 2.0T engine, with maximum power expected to exceed 406 horsepower. After the GR brand becomes independent, it will compete directly with Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, and Audi RS, and businesses such as maintenance, modification, and merchandise will also be strengthened, providing a better user experience.
