Through software-hardware synergy, the R7 world model can cover 29 types of driving scenarios including borrowing parking spaces to pass oncoming vehicles, three-point turns, avoidance and detouring, and navigating roundabouts.

The model debuts the D2D door-to-door navigation function, achieving seamless connection between driving and parking from the departure parking space to the destination parking space, and can also continuously handle gate passage scenarios. Safety capability for narrow-road oncoming vehicle avoidance by borrowing lanes and avoiding stationary vehicles has improved nearly 10 times; safety indicators for scenarios such as in-lane avoidance and traffic merging have improved 3-5 times; relying on analysis of surrounding vehicle dynamics, lane-change timing judgment is optimized, with lane-change efficiency improved nearly 15 times. Starting September 28, existing ID. ERA 9X users can upgrade to the R7 world model via OTA update.
Xingyun Intelligent Driving: Golden range extender paired with Xingyun intelligent chassis, composed driving control across all scenarios
A large five-seat SUV must ensure passenger comfort while also satisfying the driver's handling pleasure. The ID. ERA 8X is equipped with the Xingyun intelligent chassis, tuned with Volkswagen's century of German engineering, delivering excellent all-scenario driving control through "resilience, stability, and integrity." The vehicle adopts front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension; Max and above versions feature an intelligent magic carpet that can predict road conditions 15 meters ahead and a 150mm-travel dual-chamber air suspension. In summer testing in Xinjiang, the vehicle drove over undulating road surfaces at 80km/h, with the body recovering stability in just 1.202 seconds; in sand testing, it completed a 90.42km/h double lane change and 81.1km/h half-circle curve driving; it also completed the industry's first CCTV elevated curve icy surface dual-wheel blowout test, with full body posture controllable throughout.

The powertrain uses Volkswagen's self-developed EA211 golden range extender, which has undergone 15 years of iterative upgrades with global installations exceeding 25 million units, a maximum thermal efficiency of 43%, and features VTG variable-geometry turbocharging and 350bar high-pressure direct injection technology. The ID. ERA 8X achieves 0-100km/h acceleration in as fast as 4.6 seconds, measured fuel consumption of 5.85L/100km under low battery conditions, and supports 92-octane gasoline; all versions come standard with 800V high-voltage fast charging, requiring only 16 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, and also support 3.5kW external discharge, meeting the power needs for boiling water, cooking, and connecting external appliances during camping.
Yunqi Smart Cockpit: German exquisite intelligent cockpit, putting family comfort first
The cockpit features a large five-seat layout, with a body length of 5,020mm and a wheelbase of 2,970mm, balancing luxury passenger space with storage practicality. The vehicle is equipped with electric open/close doors all around, with rear doors opening up to 80 degrees; it adopts a 270-degree wrap-around cockpit, with mother-and-baby-grade Nappa full-grain leather standard across all versions, with materials selected according to a 15-year long-term use standard; both front and rear seats are equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, with an optional electric leg rest for the rear right side, and the rear backrest can recline up to 133 degrees, allowing every passenger to find a comfortable posture on long journeys.

The industry-first Smart Surface door panel magic screen is positioned in the rear, allowing rear passengers to directly adjust seats and air conditioning temperature without needing to inform the driver; it can also monitor vehicles approaching from the side and rear, reducing the risk of "dooring" accidents. The 12L dual-door smart temperature-controlled refrigerator can be conveniently opened from both front and rear, holding up to 8 bottles of 550ml drinking water, and can store both cold and hot drinks.

Golden Standard: Over 1.5 million kilometers of real-vehicle testing, directly responding to AI summer testing doubts
In July this year, the ID. ERA 8X completed summer testing in Xinjiang. After the related test videos were published, doubts emerged online that the test footage was AI-synthesized. At the launch event, SAIC Volkswagen responded: all test materials have retained CATARC-certified inspection videos and third-party blogger on-site footage, with no AI synthesis, special effects, or post-production modifications. SAIC Volkswagen has been building cars for 42 years and has insisted on real-vehicle testing for 42 years. Before the new car's official pre-orders, the ID. ERA 8X completed over 1 million kilometers of road testing, plus 500,000 kilometers of off-site durability testing, covering high temperatures, extreme cold, and other environments, all conducted with real-vehicle verification according to Volkswagen's rigorous global validation standards.

In terms of safety, the ID. ERA 8X comes standard across all versions with seven-layer battery thermal runaway protection, with the battery bottom able to withstand 2,000J impacts; 9 airbags are standard, providing comprehensive protection for both the battery and vehicle occupants.
At the launch event, SAIC Volkswagen summarized the ID. ERA 8X product core with three major technology labels: Xingyun Intelligent Driving, representing outstanding all-scenario driving control, stable chassis handling, and strong intelligent driving perception and prediction capabilities; Golden Standard, representing the hardcore strength of German quality, originating from 42 years of continuous real-vehicle testing and validation; Yunqi Smart Cockpit, representing a comfortable cockpit experience for the whole family, with every detail designed around family users. Together, these three define the ID. ERA 8X: reassuring to drive, outstanding in intelligent experience, and comfortable enough to ride in.

The ID. ERA 8X will officially launch on October 12 with final pricing announced. This National Day holiday, ID. ERA 8X display vehicles and test-drive vehicles have already arrived at stores progressively. Users are welcome to visit stores and experience its "born to handle any road" product strength.
