On June 11, XPeng officially unveiled its all-new mid-size all-electric SUV, the XPeng G7. The currently announced pre-sale price starts at 235,800 yuan, and it is planned to officially launch and begin deliveries in the third quarter of this year. For consumers considering a pure electric family SUV in this price range, the arrival of the G7 adds another option worth paying attention to.

XPeng positions the G7 as "the world's first AI car with L3-level computing power" and "a future-oriented AI intelligent family SUV." Setting aside these cutting-edge concepts, from the perspective of actual family use, the G7 has several practical highlights worth understanding.

The first is spatial practicality. As a mid-size SUV, the G7's body dimensions (length 4892mm / width 1925mm / height 1655mm, wheelbase 2890mm) are larger than those of XPeng's own G6, especially in length and width, while the wheelbase remains the same. The five-seat layout means rear-seat and trunk space should be relatively generous, making daily family use or occasional transport of large items more comfortable.

In terms of in-car technology configuration, the G7 has made a rather bold change this time: it has eliminated the traditional LCD instrument panel. In its place is the "Chasing Light Panorama" head-up display system (AR-HUD) jointly developed by XPeng and Huawei. This system projects key driving information such as vehicle speed, navigation information (including AR real-scene navigation), driver assistance status, range, and speed limit reminders directly onto the windshield, so the driver's line of sight basically does not need to leave the road. According to the official introduction, it can also achieve functions such as "light carpet" navigation, guidance at complex intersections, lane-change assistance, and even "ghost probe" warnings. As for how convenient and safe the actual experience is, friends who are interested are advised to personally try it out once demo cars arrive at stores. The central control screen inside the car is a large 15.6-inch display, and the rear row is also equipped with an 8-inch entertainment screen. Together with a 9-inch high-definition streaming rearview mirror, the sense of technology is fairly strong.

In terms of power and range, the G7 currently announced is equipped with a single motor (maximum power 218 kW) and offers two capacities of lithium iron phosphate battery packs (68.5kWh and 80.8kWh), corresponding to four CLTC range versions: 577 kilometers, 602 kilometers, 677 kilometers, and 702 kilometers. This range span covers needs from daily commuting to medium- and long-distance travel. In particular, the versions with more than 700 kilometers are more helpful in alleviating range anxiety. The battery supplier is CALB.

Overall, in the pure electric SUV market around the 250,000 yuan level, the XPeng G7 demonstrates solid competitiveness through its increased space, unique AR-HUD interaction experience, and mainstream range performance. The "intelligent family SUV" positioning it emphasizes has indeed led to some targeted design in space and technological configuration. However, choices in this price range are indeed plentiful, and each model has its strengths. If you are looking at models such as the Model Y, Zeekr 7X, or ONVO L60, then after the G7 launches in the third quarter, adding it to your comparison list, personally experiencing the space, trying out the practicality of that "Chasing Light Panorama" HUD, and then making a decision based on your own actual needs and budget should be a more prudent approach. XPeng has had good momentum recently, with deliveries in the first five months of this year showing obvious year-on-year growth, but the future market performance of the G7 specifically will still depend on final pricing, configuration strategy, and user experience feedback after actual deliveries.
