Recently, Beijing Off-Road announced the official launch of the 2026 BJ40 fuel version. As an annual update model, this facelift mainly focuses on configuration optimization, while the overall exterior continues the series' rugged classic styling. The new vehicle is offered in three regular configurations: gasoline standard version, gasoline advanced version, and diesel version, with an official guide price range of 149,900 yuan to 159,900 yuan, along with a limited-time promotional price range of 126,900 yuan to 136,900 yuan. In addition, to commemorate 60 years of Chinese off-roading and 40 years of Chinese rock music, the manufacturer simultaneously launched two limited commemorative models: the Off-Road 60 Years Commemorative Edition (limited to 60 units) and the Rock 40 Years Commemorative Edition (limited to 40 units), both with a guide price of 166,566 yuan.

In terms of exterior, the new vehicle maintains the boxy, rugged off-road vehicle silhouette. Iconic classic elements such as the five-hole intake grille, prominent wheel arches, externally mounted full-size spare tire, and side-opening tailgate are all retained. The frameless door design is rather unusual among rugged off-road models. At the front, the blacked-out headlight clusters paired with pulse-style LED daytime running lights offer good recognizability. The thick roof rails combined with the floating roof design give it a stronger sense of power while adding a touch of fashion. At the rear, the vertically arranged blacked-out taillight clusters integrate compact fog lights, and the overall design is well coordinated.

In terms of interior, the design balances comfort and technological feel. It is equipped with a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a fully digital instrument panel, and a dual-screen setup consisting of a 12.8-inch central control screen and a front passenger entertainment screen. In terms of configuration, the entire lineup comes standard with L2-level driver assistance systems, 360-degree panoramic camera, automatic parking, hill descent control, and other functions, with a rear axle differential lock also standard. Comfort features include front seat heating, ventilation, massage, and power adjustment, keyless entry, automatic air conditioning, and wireless phone charging. This facelift adds front zero-gravity seats as an optional item.

The powertrain offers two choices: gasoline and diesel. The gasoline version is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine, with a maximum power of 245 horsepower (approximately 180 kW) and peak torque of 395 N·m, matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The diesel version is equipped with a 2.0T diesel engine, with a maximum power of 120 kW and peak torque of 400 N·m. The entire lineup has a towing capacity of 2.5 tons. Among them, the higher-spec gasoline advanced version additionally features a front axle differential lock and functions specifically designed for complex road conditions, such as crawl mode.

In terms of body dimensions, the new vehicle's length, width, and height are 4790mm, 1940mm, and 1929mm (some versions at 1949mm) respectively, with a wheelbase of 2760mm. Compared with the previous model, the body height has been slightly increased. Overall, the 2026 BJ40 fuel version continues its iconic rugged off-road style and core performance, and this annual update mainly involves optimization and upgrades at the configuration level, enhancing ride comfort for daily driving. The simultaneously launched Off-Road 60 Years Commemorative Edition and Rock 40 Years Commemorative Edition provide users with limited-edition choices of commemorative significance.
