On September 16, the first model of SAIC Audi's new electric sub-brand AUDI E, the Audi E5 Sportback, was officially launched. The new car is offered in four configurations, with a price range of 235,900 to 319,900 yuan, consistent with the previously announced presale prices. Notably, the company simultaneously introduced a 10,000 yuan insurance subsidy policy, bringing the actual entry price down further to the 220,000 yuan level, with deliveries commencing immediately after launch. The new car is positioned as a pure electric mid-size fastback sedan, built on an intelligent digital platform jointly developed by Audi and SAIC, marking the entry of the two parties' strategic cooperation into the stage of substantive product implementation.

In terms of exterior design, the Audi E5 Sportback closely reproduces the design philosophy of the AUDI E concept car. The front end features a closed-off grille design, paired with a dot-matrix illuminated ring composed of 942 LED beads and an illuminated "AUDI" logo, presenting distinct electric characteristics and a sense of the future. The side profile adopts a sleek fastback silhouette, with contours paying tribute to Audi's classic Sportback design tradition while incorporating new elements such as a subtle widebody structure, electronic exterior mirrors, and frameless soft-close doors. The rear features wraparound LED light clusters and a multi-layered spoiler design, reinforcing the vehicle's sporty visual impression.

In terms of interior, the new car adopts a wraparound cockpit layout with a tech-oriented minimalist style. The center console has almost entirely eliminated physical buttons, with the vast majority of functions integrated into a 59-inch 4K integrated screen composed of a 12.3-inch instrument display and a 27-inch central control screen. The infotainment system is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and the AUDI OS operating system, supporting multimodal interaction, an AI voice assistant, and a rich localized application ecosystem. The seats feature an integrated design, with mid- and high-trim models offering front-row heating, ventilation, massage, and rear-row heating functions, along with Bose audio and 50W wireless charging, balancing comfort and practicality.

The powertrain offers multiple versions with single-motor and dual-motor options. Single-motor versions produce maximum power of 299 hp and 408 hp respectively, while dual-motor versions have a combined maximum power ranging from 525 to 787 hp, with the top-tier model accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. In terms of range, the new car is equipped with a 76.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and 83.3/100 kWh ternary lithium battery packs supplied by CATL, achieving a maximum CLTC range of 773 km. The entire lineup is built on an 800V high-voltage architecture, with fast charging from 10% to 80% taking as little as 16.8 minutes in fast-charge mode, and all versions support 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load discharging.

For intelligent driving, the Audi E5 Sportback is equipped with an NVIDIA Orin-X chip and 27 perception hardware components including 1 lidar, 3 millimeter-wave radars, 11 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars. It adopts an intelligent driving solution jointly developed with Momenta, supporting urban and highway navigation-assisted driving with functions such as automatic obstacle avoidance, traffic light recognition, and intelligent lane changing. The parking system supports cross-floor memory parking and more than 300 parking scenarios, adapting to China's complex urban parking environments.

As an important implementation product of Audi's electrification strategy in China, the Audi E5 Sportback not only continues the brand's traditional strengths in design and driving dynamics but also demonstrates strong localized adaptability in the fields of intelligentization and electrification through deep cooperation with Chinese technology companies. With its fastback design and comprehensive technological features, combined with a relatively accessible pricing strategy, the new car is expected to gain attention in the mid-to-high-end electric sedan market. According to the plan, the AUDI E brand will launch more electric models in the future, including SUVs and large sedans, further expanding its electric product lineup.
