Recently, Deepal Auto added a new four-wheel-drive Wilderness Edition to its G318 lineup, priced at 185,900 yuan, consistent with the previously available two-wheel-drive Wilderness Edition. The new vehicle's exterior styling is basically identical to the two-wheel-drive version, but the body color is offered only in Canyon Black.
The new vehicle measures 5,125mm in length, 2,025mm in width, and 1,895mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,880mm. It rides on 18-inch wheels wrapped in 255/65 R18 tires and is equipped with rear ventilated brake discs. In terms of power, the new vehicle continues to carry a 1.5T range-extender powertrain, with the engine producing a maximum power of 110kW. As a range-extended model, it can rely mainly on pure electric driving for urban commuting, while for long-distance travel the range extender can alleviate range anxiety.
Xiao Tang's Viewpoint: The Deepal G318 four-wheel-drive Wilderness Edition achieves four-wheel drive at the same price as two-wheel drive at 185,900 yuan, and its technical approach is worth noting. On the powertrain side, the 1.5T range extender is used only for power generation, with independent drive from front and rear dual motors producing maximum power of 131kW and 185kW respectively, enabling the system's combined output to achieve a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds; the 35.07kWh battery provides 186km of CLTC pure electric range, and the range-extended architecture balances urban commuting with long-distance replenishment.
In terms of how four-wheel drive is implemented, it does not adopt a mechanical differential lock but instead relies on independent dual-motor control and electronic limited slip, combined with crawl mode and tank turn functionality, to meet passing requirements in mild off-road scenarios. In terms of equipment, steering wheel heating and seat memory are removed, while a wading sensing system is added, reflecting a functional emphasis oriented toward complex road conditions. Overall, under a range-extended four-wheel-drive architecture, this model has formed a differentiated technical positioning through clear configuration trade-offs.
